What to Expect

Getting in Touch

Once you contact us, we'll arrange a free 30-minute phone or video conversation to discuss your situation and explain how we work. If you decide to proceed, we'll email you some short forms to complete about your medical history and schedule your initial assessment.

Initial Assessment

90 to 120 minutes

During this session, you’ll meet with our interdisciplinary clinicians to:
  • Discuss your clinical history and how pain impacts your daily life
  • Talk through any current and past treatments
  • Set realistic goals to work towards
  • Discuss an initial treatment plan
  • Answer any questions you might have

Your Treatment Programme

Whether you choose our Foundation or Comprehensive package, your programme will include biweekly, day sessions held at an accessible location in central Harrogate. Programmes involve:

  • Small groups in a relaxed, respectful atmosphere where you can participate as much or as little as you want
  • 1 – 2 hour session blocks run jointly by our multidisciplinary clinical staff focussing on understanding pain, learning practical management techniques, and working towards your goals.

If you choose our Comprehensive package, your programme will also include:

  • Weekly individual time with our specialist clinicians, where they will design bespoke exercises and strategies tailored for your specific needs. Review of your progress and adjustments to your treatment as needed
Follow-up sessions

For clients who chose our Comprehensive Package, we offer three quarterly follow-up sessions with our clinicians and specialists after the initial group and individual sessions conclude.

These allow our specialists to further review your progress and provide ongoing support for your rehabilitation through any new challenges that you encounter. These follow-up sessions can be conducted in person in Harrogate, or remotely, according to your preference.

What We Don't Do
We believe it’s important to be transparent about what we don’t offer:
  • We do not prescribe medication
  • We do not provide emergency care
  • We do not offer surgical or invasive interventions
Practical Matters
  • Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily
  • Our centre has step-free access and dedicated parking
  • Sessions start promptly, so please arrive 5–10 minutes early
  • If you need to cancel, please give us 24 hours' notice where possible
  • A selection of tea/coffee, fruit, and biscuits will always be available
Your Commitment

To get the most from the programme we ask that you:

  • Attend sessions regularly
  • Be open to engage in evidence-based physical and psychological approaches
  • Practice new pain management techniques between sessions
  • Give yourself the time it takes to learn new strategies
  • Share your concerns with us if something isn't working
